Job Summary: We have an exciting opportunity for a graduate level counseling intern to join our team at Colorado Therapy Collective. This position works with individuals, couples, and adult family relationships in a private practice, outpatient therapy setting. The ideal candidate is someone who is trained in or interested in training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

About Colorado Therapy Collective: Colorado Therapy Collective (CTC) is a collaborative community of skillful and caring therapists. CTC is an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) based treatment practice with therapists who have advanced training and certifications in this attachment based, relational therapy model. We work with individuals, couples, and families to improve their relationships with themselves, their partners, and loved ones. CTC therapists specialize in couples therapy, infidelity and affair recovery, relationship/couples therapy for individuals, trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. We are entirely private pay, and are not in-network with insurance companies. We are based in Denver, CO and also work with clients in Greater Colorado via telehealth. 

Internship Training Program Overview

Job Type: Part-time Internship

Duration: The Internship training program is a 12-month commitment 

Expected clinical hours for intern:

  • First 4 months: 5-10 clinical hours/week 

  • Second 4 months: 10-15 clinical hours/week 

  • Third 4 months: 15-20 clinical hours/week 

Clinical supervision provided:

  • 1 hour of weekly supervision with a designated CTC licensed therapist 

  • 1 hour of bi-weekly group supervision with CTC Clinical Director and therapists 

Schedule and Location:

  • Requirement of 10 hours/week minimum hours (clinical and administrative) 

    • Must be available for CTC supervision and trainings Monday-Friday during the day

    • Must provide at least 2 days of evening availability to work with clients until 8 pm

  • On-site at the CTC office in Denver, CO and/or remotely via HIPAA compliant, secure telehealth platform. If working remotely, you are required to have a private location with reliable technology and internet connection. 

Initial Responsibilities prior to completion of the EFT Externship training:

  1. Promptly respond to new client inquiries and conduct new client initial consultations

  2. Schedule and send intake documents to new clients 

  3. Actively engage in supervision with CTC Clinical Director

  4. Effectively write blog posts and support other administrative tasks as outlined by the CTC Clinical Director and CTC Operations Director 

Primary Responsibilities once EFT Externship is completed and working with a client caseload:

  1. Provide Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) based therapy to individuals, couples/relationships, and family clients 

  2. Evaluate and assess the mental health and relational health of clients through client intake documents, initial assessment sessions, and on-going relevant assessment tools 

  3. Effective development and implementation of client treatment plans 

  4. Effective and ethical management of client cases, client communication, client documentation, and case consultation 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Build strong therapeutic alliance with individual, couples/relationship, and family clients 

  • Timely and accurate processing of payment for client counseling sessions 

  • Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients’ treatment 

  • Monitor client progress and make adjustments to treatment plans, as necessary

  • Refer clients to specialists for treatment, as necessary 

  • Effective and professional communication and engagement with the CTC team 

  • Maintain high level of ethical and professional conduct at all times 

  • Keep the Faculty Supervisor and Site Supervisor informed regarding Practicum and Internship experiences

Required Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a Masters program in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work

  • Maintain enrollment in a Masters program in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work throughout the practicum and internship experience 

  • Strong clinical skills and communication skills

  • Advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (Externship and/or Core Skills completion), and/or willingness to complete the EFT introduction Externship training 

  • Excellent ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member

  • Interest and willingness to work from an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) framework

  • LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapist 

  • 12-month commitment to the internship/training program

  • Availability to work either evening and/or weekend hours
